My Week As a Maasai

This time Ideal LifeVision exceeded even my expectations.  Six weeks ago when a wild thought passed through my (brain) that I should build a cyber cafe IMMEDIATELY in Kenya, I almost dismissed it.  But I grabbed the thought again thinking “If I truly want to show my newly certified Kenyan Coaches the power of Ideal LifeVision – what better way!”

So I made my declaration “I’m going to Africa to set up an office for Ideal LifeVision Kenya as well as creating a cyber cafe in a land that doesn’t even have electricity!”.  I made sure my close friends, my coaches, and clients were all aware of my intention.  And I got a little sick to my stomach.  Then I do what I do best.  I revised my Ideal LifeVision to include this lofty goal that I declared would happen in 6 weeks time.

I put it all in there, the amount of money I needed to raise, the computers I had to get access to, the solar panels that I needed to learn about. It became  a full page of seemingly impossible tasks and goods that I couldn’t wrap my head around.  But I knew I hadn’t nailed it!  It lacked my WHY – it needed more heart.  And it certainly needed something a little more adventurous.

So I began thinking that this would probably be one of the rare times I would be going to Africa ALONE.  I would never have a more perfect opportunity to actually LIVE in the village where 3 of my certified coaches lived and grew up as Maasai Warriors.  Hmmmm.  Do I dare?  When I asked Dalton about it, his first response was “How brave are you?”  Yikes!  What was he referring to – the elephants and lions that could be lurking outside the hut on any given night?  But still, it was my ONE CHANCE!  I’m BRAVE!  I’m going for it.  So the LifeVision and the plans began including a few nights stay inside the village. ( Now I might be BRAVE, but I’m not dumb.  I decided that I would bring my own food and not subject myself to foreign food that might not agree with me and then ruin the balance of my trip.  So the duffle bag got packed with lots of tuna packets, protein bars and shakes and trail mix.  ……Anyone can live off that for a week right?).

And finally, I knew 6 weeks away would be the height of the wildebeest  migration from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara!  What luck!  It was even on my bucket list to witness this – The pieces were coming together.

Now to get to work. Donations!  You can’t build a cyber cafe or an office with good intentions only.  I needed money.  I needed computers.  I needed Solar panels.  I made calls.  I sent emails . I posted on Facebook.  And the power of Ideal LifeVision with my crystal clear vision began to take shape.  I’ll be honest, it didn’t happen exactly like I planned in my written and recorded vision.  The person I planned on supporting this project (because he originally said he’d give me $5000) never gave me a dime.  The solar panels I thought I could take on the plane with me were too big and “not allowed”.  Neither was the battery for the generator!

But if your vision is clear and your motive pure – all things work out!  The Africans prayed.  And not just a few – more like hundreds (maybe even a thousand).  Computers and netbooks were given and donated!  In the slowest month of the year for Ideal LifeVision – people were signing up for my program and money was trickling in.  Enough that as I began purchasing solar panels and paying for internet and printers and rent and chairs and carpenters and wires and cables  – my bank account never noticed (it didn’t decrease by a dollar!)

Through the persistence of a great friend – Goal Zero even offered a much needed generator!

Six weeks later – my Kenyan coaches (and myself!) witnessed a miracle along with the power of Vision (habakuk script)

I boarded the plane with 200 lbs of STUFF and found myself on the most Surreal adventure of my life!

A dream come true!  And just the beginning of my Global LifeVision Foundation in Kenya!
